When I was a little girl, all I wanted to do was dance and be the Little Mermaid. You'll be happy to know that one of those things indeed came true. The other I'm still working on; balance right?
Currently based in Calgary, Alberta, I have been instructing beginner to advanced dancers for the past 5 years. I taught my first class at my mother's dance studio at 16 but quickly learned, the role of a dance educator is not a responsibility to be taken lightly and so began my journey and my collection of hats...
Prior to moving to Calgary, I lived in Toronto. I was a student at York University (BFA Dance), George Brown College (Commercial Dance) and DJD's Professional Training Program (2 years). I am fortunate enough to have performed with various Toronto and Calgary based companies, worked on set as a movement coach, performed and taught across Canada (as well as Dubai!) and hit the stage at the 2013 Much Music Video Awards. Via Spain, I am RYS Yoga Teaching Certified, have taken up residency in Punta Canada, DR (Royalton Resort) along with my regular practice. I also am trained in Level 1 Reiki.
Currently, I act as Director of the Maven Movement (Formerly Army of Sass (Calgary)) and am a long time faculty member at Decidedly Jazz Danceworks and illFX Education.
If you want something done, ask a dancer. Seriously - a life in the arts is very unpredictable. While my craft was my focus, I attained many hats along the way...
From event management to experience guide and promotions to administration, I have gained a variety and depth of experience.
Acting as Intern at DivaGirl and 2 years as Marketing and Community Engagement Coordinator at Decidedly Jazz Danceworks, I have since moved as a freelancer into the social media and content creation world. Always upping my game, I have completed my Social Media Marketing Certificate through The Social School, attended Social West and currently completing The Strategy of Content Marketing via the University of California, Davis.
My husband and I love to travel and explore. You can either find us camping, in far off lands or hanging out with our cat, Savanna. Immersing ourselves into cultures with food, activities and language is the real human experience.
Life experience is truly the best teacher.
Otherwise you can find me in a dance class, yoga practice, getting my butt kicked in a barre class, riding my bike, supporting artistic communities or watching Ru Paul's Drag Race with a glass of wine and popcorn.
